Accordion In Hi-Fi
Accordion In Hi-Fi is the album that got Jo Ann
Castle her audition with Lawrence Welk. Jo Ann Castle's fingers fly on
this pre-Lawrence Welk album, published in 1959 by Roulette Records with
excerpts republished by Rhino Records in 1995. Once she joined the Welk
organization, she found herself third chair behind Welk himself and Myron Floren,
so she switched to the piano and became Welk's "Ragtime Gal." Castle's
original rendition of "Flight of the Bumble Bee", transposed by Castle
for the accordion, is simply incredible.
